Drybrook 1st XV Match Report

19th November - Gloucestershire Premier League

Drybrook 20pts Old Colstonians 0pts

Drybrook were forced to completely change their back division due to unavailability and injury problems but they performed well to overcome a useful visiting outfit.  The heavy pitch and cold conditions made life difficult at times but Drybrook’s pick and go strategy coupled with some top class forward inter-passing made life difficult for Old Colstonians.  Drybrook’s first try came when Julian Horrobin scythed through the visiting defence to touch down in the corner after 9 minutes.  Drybrook’s forward control was impressive to watch and after 21 minutes came the try of the season so far. Out of nowhere and from the half way line came a delightful handling move in which the forwards and backs switched play and supported so well that centre Jamie Roberts was left with the easy task of touching down in the corner.
The second half was much the same with only the heavy going and slippery ball denying Drybrook a raft of points.  They managed a pushover try from No 8 Neil Morgan and then rounded things off when winger Chris White was put in on the overlap.  Although a very good team performance from Drybrook particularly deserving of mention was No 8 Neil Morgan, both second rows John Duffin and Dale Critchley and the Moore brothers who seem to get better every match.
