Drybrook 1st XV Match Report
8th March 2008
Gloucestershire Premier League
Drybrook 34pts Aretians nil
Drybrook’s powerful
first half performance ensured another good victory for the home team who have
now racked up over 100 points in their last 3 league games.
It took Drybrook 10 minutes to get on the scoreboard and it came after the
visitor’s No 8 was sin binned for punching and Aaron Ryder kicked the resulting
penalty.
Drybrook kept up the pressure and went further ahead when hooker Chris Thomas
went over for a try following a front of the line out move.
Aretians were forced to defend for a long period but they could not stop a
Drybrook push over try with scrum half Carl Moore the grateful recipient.
Minutes later Drybrook were again attacking the Aretians line and they managed
to disrupt the visitors scrimmage to allow Moore his second touch down with
Ryder again adding the extras.
Drybrook’s final score of the half came with a good bout of inter passing that
led to outside half Simon Rugman diving over in the corner.
At 27pts – nil down Aretians only had pride to play for in the second half but
they acquitted themselves admirably to frustrate the home team for long periods.
Drybrook created a number of good opportunities but the slippery ball and the
worsening conditions made life difficult.
Drybrook finally broke the deadlock with a couple of minutes to go and it was
worth waiting for.
The industrious Moore broke from a scrum near half way and exchanged passes with
flanker Danny Price before racing over near the posts for his try hat trick.
Ryder converted to complete another good win for the home team.
