Gloucestershire Premier League
Drybrook 8pts Gloucester Old Boys 3pts
Drybrook made
hard work of this game against a team who
are short on confidence after tasting
relegation from the Western Counties League
last season
Old Boys
started off as if they were expecting
Drybrook to swarm all over them but the home
side failed to capitalise and the game
became a poor spectacle.
Drybrook were
unable to score despite having the majority
of possession and Old Boys grew in
confidence as the half wore on.
It was not
until the 34th minute that
Drybrook finally broke the deadlock when
scum half Danny Griffiths crashed over under
a pile of players for the game’s only try.
Drybrook were
on top for most of the second half and
finally got some breathing space when
outside half Aaron Ryder kicked a penalty
after 20 minutes.
The match then
developed into an ill tempered affair and at
one stage Drybrook had two players in the
sin bin which did little to help their
cause.
Drybrook were
relying on individuals making ground and all
too often the attacking players lacked
support so Old Boys were able to keep their
line intact.
With 3 minutes
remaining Old Boys kicked a penalty and
suddenly they began to sense an unlikely
victory but Drybrook raised the tempo to
ensure victory was theirs.
