Drybrook 1st XV Match Report

Gloucestershire Premier League
Drybrook nil Old Colstonians 15pts

It was wet and cold at the Mannings on Saturday and Drybrook served up a performance to match the miserable conditions.
Colstonians have been languishing near the bottom of the table all season and they could not believe their luck when they faced a Drybrook team so lacking in ideas and enthusiasm, that instead of falling to an expected defeat they found themselves unlikely victors.
The closest Drybrook came to scoring was in the first half when winger Jamie Roberts was bundled into touch in goal but apart from that they created very few opportunities and did not have one kick at goal all game.
The visitors were able to repel all of Drybrook’s first half attacks as the slippery ball caused countless handling errors and towards the end of the half they took the lead with a penalty.
In the second half Drybrook relied on individuals to make ground but they were forever isolated and from one such turnover Colstonians put together the only decent move of the game when they broke from deep in their own half to score a try.
Drybrook kept plugging away to no avail and on 20 minutes the visitors scored a second try when a blindside break from a maul found the home defence lacking.
The rest of the game was very flat with Drybrook never looking likely to score and the final whistle could not come soon enough for the home supporters.
