29th April County Plate Final - Drybrook 10pts  Old Richian  26pts

Drybrook travelled to Gordon League to face strong Richians squad n the Final of the County plate.  From the first whistle Drybrook were against a strong wind and the slope of the pitch, this coupled with Richians quick start meant Drybrook were soon trailing  by 7 with Richians running in a try.  For the next 15 mins Drybrook  defended strongly but were pinned deep in their own half but then  Richian  stuck again with another try to build a 14-0.  Drybrook then came back into the game strongly with this seasons star man Kyle Frowen scoring a try wide out.  Then disaster struck with Drybrook attacking well in the Richains 22 metre area a loose kick landed straight into their wingers arms, who set off down field and despite despairing chase backs from skipper Ben Large, Callum Lusted he managed to cross and score with Jordan Niblett nearly dislodging the ball in the try area.   However, despite this blow, Drybrook immediately responded from the kick off with the ball being fed to Jordan Niblett who out-flanked the defence from 50 metres to score a good try.  The whistle then blew for half-time with Richians leading 19-10pts.

With Drybrook having the advantage of the elements in the second half, they started strongly and for the first 20 minutes they played percentage Rugby and were camped in the Richians 22 area.  Despite numerous attempts to score the strong Richians tackling held them out, this period seemed the turning point and with Drybrook unable to score. Richians managed to score a final try right at the final whistle from a mistake with Drybrook having to tae risks to try and get back into the game.    WELL DONE LADS FOR A GOOD SEASON!

1st April County Plate semi final - Drybrook 20  Painswick  0

Drybrook earned themselves a place in the final with a fine display at the mannings.  From the start Drybrook attacked but due to several handling errors they were unable to get on the score board. After ten minutes of continuous pressure drybrooks first points came from a penalty near Painswicks line, Drybrooks forwards lined up to take the ball but instead of going for a crash ball, the ball was spun quickly across the back line to see outside centre Callum Bland touchdown. The visitors came back quickly from the restart and tried to retain the ball, Drybrook kept possession and moved the ball away from Painswicks forwards, but again handling errors forced several scrums. Drybrooks hooker Jack Davis started to take ball against the head putting Painswick under more pressure. Painswick defended well and managed to start to get their hands on the ball, but hard hitting tackles kept them from venturing passed half way. Just before half time Drybrooks back row of Ben Large, Dave Long and Kyle Frowen linked well on the attack and finished off with Large scoring out wide.

The second half was virtually a repeat of the first with Drybrooks handling letting them down at the last moment. Several of phases were built by Drybrook ensuring Painswick were kept on the backfoot. Frowen went on a typical run weaving his way through the defence finally setting up a maul in Painswick 22, from the driven maul Frowen popped out to touchdown in the corner. With the visitors losing their strong number eight to injury painswicks form seem to lose its shape and from another maul inside their 22, prop replacement Jake Parker surged through a tired defence to score Drybrooks last points of the game.

25th March County Plate Quarter final - Drybrook 40pts   Bristol  0pts

Drybrook totally dominated this affair scoring 8 tries.

18th March County Cup Group - Drybrook u13s  38pts    Chipping Sodbury  0pts

This was Drybrooks fourth game in their group and their second win. Drybrook started slowly making unforced errors. This led to play being slowed up. After ten minutes Drybrooks number eight Kyle Frowen was first on the score board snatching loose ball to go over in the corner. Jordan Niblett converted from out on the touchline. Chipping Sodburys defence was holding well so several kicks out of hand were used to gain advantage for drybrook. With the wind in their favour Drybrook kicked for the corner, Chippings full back tried to clear but captain Ben Large charged down the kick picked up the loose ball and touched down, again Niblett kicked from out wide to earn a fine conversion. Again pressure was put on Chipping Sodbury from kicks, and from a defending lineout Kyle Frowen stole the ball and broke through from ten metres out to score. With drybrook playing in to the wind the second half, they kept the ball in hand, and started to use their backs to effect. From a maul the ball was moved swiftly releasing Jordan Niblett at outside centre who weaved his way from half way to score under the posts. Tom Biggs converted. Drybrook hit back from the restart with a fine passing display which sent winger Callum Bland in at the corner flag. Chipping Sodbury earned several penalties which they decided to run, but again and again Drybrook repelled them. From a turnover Drybrooks Kyle Frowen went on a great run from inside his own half breaking through several defenders he cut back infield inside the oppositions 22 to offload to centre Callum Lusted who raced up in support to score under the posts, Tom Biggs converted.

This was a good team performance and many players were moving the ball instead of glory hunting. Kyle Frowen was made man of the match and Ollie Floyd named clown of the match for passing out to his mum on the side line.

4th March, County Cup Group - Drybrook u13s  40pts  Old Patesians 7pts

It was cold, windy and very wet, not the conditions for entertaining rugby,  yet in their final group game of the county cup Drybrook opened up and against the adverse conditions produced a good display of rugby.  Drybrook, playing up the slope in the first half, and despite having the advantage of the strong wind at their back chose to run the ball at every opportunity instead of kicking for field position.  It wasn't long before they opened the scoring through the strong running of Kyle Frowen scoring in the corner.  Jordan Niblett successfully kicked the touch-line conversion.  Drybrooks next score again came from the ever impressive Kyle Frowen, Tom Biggs successfully converted.  Then came a score from skipper and man of the match Ben Large, Tom Biggs again converted.   Old Pat's then replied with a converted try of their own through an interception.  This seemed to fire Drybrook again as they responded straight from the kick off, with a try from Mitch Baldwin again converted by Tom Biggs.  Then from the next kick off Kyle Frowen again ran the ball back powerfully before putting the supporting Callum Lusted through to out sprint the covering defence and score under the posts, Tom Biggs converted to bring an end to the half.

Despite playing into the wind in the second half the game generated into stalemate, but Old Pats did enjoy a 5 minute spell on the Drybrook line but just could not get over due to the outstanding and aggressive Drybrook defence led by skipped Ben Large.  Drybrook managed the only score of the second half with Kyle Frowen completing his hatrick much to the dismay of his watching dad and the thought of denting his wallet!!!!

This victory secured Drybrook's passage into the County Shield QF's with the opponents still to be confirmed on the 18th March.

25th February, County Cup Group -  Drybrook u13s   38pts  Chipping Sodbury 0pts

After defeats Away at Cinderford and Dursley in the first two matches, Drybrook looked to build on last weeks defeat of Matson to try and secure third place in the group.  Playing down the slope with the elements Drybrook opened the scoring through skipper Ben Large who chased his own kick through from his own half to charge down the attempted clearance and score.  Drybrooks next score was down to the brute force of star player Kyle Frowen, who stole a Chipping line out and forced his way over down the blind side.  Jordan Niblett converted the difficult conversion from the touch-line.  Despite dominating territory Drybrook were made to wait for the last play of the Half for their next score, again using the elements Drybrook kicked through and with winger Ollie Floyd pressurising the defender, Kyle Frowen was on hand to steal the ball and score on the corner.  Again Jordan Niblett converted the difficult touchline conversion.

Drybrook opened the second half scoring with a fine individual try for Jordan Niblett from deep inside his own half, this was converted by Tom Biggs.  This effectively sealed the match and allowed Drybrook to change the team around.  The next try was the result of a good handling move from the backs finished off with strong running from winger Callum Bland. Despite Chipping trying to fight back Drybrook rounded of the scoring when Kyle Frowen again broke out from deep inside his own half before feeding centre Callum Lusted who finished off under the posts.  Tom Biggs the converted to signal the end of the match.  Next up fro Drybrook are Old Pats at Home.

3rd December - Drybrook u13s  46  Widden u13s  5

Following the evenings downpour the mannings ground was unplayable, so the game was played at Dene magna school. Drybrook started well moving the ball well between the forwards and backs finding centre Jordan Niblett who cut through the defence to touchdown, Tom Biggs slotted the conversion. From the restart the ball was moved with speed by flanker Ollie Floyd who caught and ran the ball wide, from which good pick up and drives were made and forced Widden onto the back foot. From desperate defending Widden forced a lineout from which Drybrooks Kyle Frowen stole the ball to power through to score from ten yards out. Jordan Niblett converted a fine kick from far out on the touchline. The high winds and frequent showers started to hamper handling which resulted in scrum after scrum. Drybrooks number eight kyle frowen used this to his advantage by breaking off a scrum to grab another try. Widden started to use their larger forwards dragging Drybrook into long tiring mauls, which ended in scrappy play. Drybrooks pack struggled at first to cope with the mauls but eventually found structure driving flanker Ollie Floyd over to score. The second half started very untidy with both sides being dragged into large contact affairs with the ball being wrapped up in mauls and untidy rucking. Although with  the wind against them Drybrook started to move the ball out wide finding centre Ben Large who was looping well in support,  large used his pace to cut past several defenders to score. With the play starting to open up Drybrook used their runners. Fly half Tom Biggs made several deceiving runs making space for his backs, from one such run saw Jordan Niblett latch on to a pass from just inside Widdens half to sprint away to score, which Biggs converted. Widden to their credit forced drybrook to clear their lines which Widdens nippy fullback ran back from deep to score a very good solo effort. Drybrook put the pressure back on and from a scrum in Widdens 22, scrum half Mitchell Baldwin capitalised to dart through to score. Last on the score board was man of the match Kyle Frowen who rounded off a fine performance by taking the ball wide to side step his way through. This was a much improved performance by the home team and the score could have been higher if not for the weather conditions.

19th November - Cinderford 17pts  Drybrook  5pts

Drybrook lost their unbeaten start to the season against a strong Cinderford team.  Dybrook were let down with key missed tackles, which gave Cinderford the edge in this game forcing Drybrook onto the back foot for periods. 5th November - Still unbeaten with biggest victory of the season
Lydney 0pts  Drybrook 60pts

Drybrook travelled to Lydney with a bare team due to injuries and unavailability’s, for their first encounter with Lydney.

Drybrook soon made their presence felt after Ben Large latched on to a switch ball and powered through the defence to touch down. The pressure was kept on by Drybrook whos much improved scrummaging presented their number eight with a chance to pick up and power through to touch down, Tom Biggs converted. Lydney went on the attack but were overturned and from quick passing saw the ball being moved across the pitch finding Frowen in support, who unselfishly offloaded the ball, with one player to beat, to send Dave Long over, Biggs converted. Lydney still came at Drybrook but they were repelled by fierce tackling, and again from a turnover ball the Drybrooks backs moved the ball Quickly finding Winger Ollie Floyd who raced in to touchdown, Biggs converted. Just before the break Drybrooks Centre Jordan Niblett took off down the centre of the pitch scoring from the half way.

After the break Drybrook found Lydney pick themselves up battling fiercely in the contact area, Drybrook answered again by turning them over and moving the ball across the pitch finding hooker jack Davis who ran the ball under the post helping the conversion for Jordan Niblett. Jack Davis rounded off a good display running in two more tries. Niblett ran in two more tries which he converted one of bringing his points for the match  to nineteen. Worthy of  a mention is Ben Large who was everywhere on the pitch and also Ollie Floyd who not only had a great game but also managed to dive again for the five metre line instead of the try line.

22nd October - Another Good win for Drybrook.
Widden OB 5pts Drybrook 31pts

Drybrook maintained their 100% start to the season with a comfortable, but hard fought Victory at Widden.  Although not playing to their best with key players missing and only travelling with the bare 15 players, Drybrook were still too strong for the Widden side.  For Drybrook Ben Large started the scoring within 2 mintues of the kick-off, another stong run from Ben also led to the second try with James Rawlings forcing his way over in the corner.  Ollie Floyd then finished off another good Drybrook move , which Ben Large converted giving Drybrook a 17-0 half-time lead.

Widden started the second half strongly and within 5 minutes responded with a try of their own after some strong running from their newly introduced centre.  This try galvanised Drybrook who immediately responded with fly-half Tom Biggs forcing his way over under the posts which Rhys Gardner converted.  The game then seemed to ebb and flow with no side gaining the upper hand until Jake Howells broke from just in his own half to score near the posts which Rhys Gardner again converted.
For Drybrook Ollie Floyd was man of the match after appearing on the blindside flank instead of his usual wingers role.  Lewis Bowkett also made his first start for Drybrook playing the whole match.

In the second half  Drybrook continued to dominate with further tries from Conner Auker-Howlett, Rhys Gardner, Jake Howells, Callum Lusted x 2 and Kyle Frowen.  Jordan Niblett and Rhys Gardner both added conversions.  With Drybrook opening up a 50 point margin the match was finished and despite being heavily defeated Old Pats still fought bravely.

10th September - Victory on the Main pitch in Season Opener.
Drybrook 7pts - Chosen Hill 0 pts

Drybrook begun the season with a narrow victory over Chosen Hill, but the scoreline did not reflect the possession and territory advantage Drybrook enjoyed for the majority of the match.  On their first ever match on a full size pitch Drybrook performed very well and secured a victory through a try from Dave Long converted by Rhys Gardner. The only low point came when the game was cut short due to an injury to influential back row player Kyle Frowen who was taken to hospital with a neck injury.

Drybrook used a squad of  21players, and with some key players missing this augers well for the remainder of the season.

3rd September - Training commences with the inclusion of  Danny Grewcock.

The Under 13's first official training session had a very good turn out with over 18 players turning up including some new faces.  The highlight of the session was the Match to finish the session in which World Cup Winner Danny Grewcock took part.  Some of the brighter moments in the match were Jake Howells out jumping Danny Grewcock in the line-out or Conner Auker-Howlett missing his jumper Danny with his throwing in.  Also worth a mention was the hospital pass Danny threw to poor Lewis Bowkett who finished up at the bottom of 2 tacklers.  At the end of the session Danny picked out Rhys Gardner and Ben Large as his trainers of the day and both were awarded DVD's.
