Another Excellent Season Drybrook RFC Annual General Meeting 8th July 2009 Chairman’s Report by A.P.Mason
Last season was another excellent one with the 1st XV winning the Gloucestershire Premier League and the Chepstow Tens, the thirds winning Merit League 4 and the seconds placed 3rd in Merit League 1.
Everyone involved in the club’s senior section deserve acknowledgement for these achievements with captain Neil Morgan especially worthy of praise.
The junior section continues to thrive and their committee is to be congratulated on another splendid year both on and off the field. The highlights were Ceri Large’s selection for the England under 20’s squad and Kyle Frowen and Ben Large’s inclusion in the County Under 15 team.
The Under 15’s won the county plate and 3 other squads made the finals day in various age groups of the county tournaments, our best showing yet.
Moving onto the business side of the club it is pleasing to note that we have had another good year despite the present economic downturn. Plans for a grandstand have just been passed and hopefully work will begin soon on this project.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have helped out in any way for the good of the club and particularly the executive committee whose work often goes unseen.
Finally I am sure that I speak for every one of us in hoping that next season will be a successful one for the club both on and off the field.
